Longest section of the cross-state Palmetto Trail, traversing 47 miles through four ecosystems in Francis Marion National Forest: swamps, longleaf pine forests, savannas, and cypress pools. Boardwalks protect wetland crossings in terrain once used as Revolutionary War hideouts by the Swamp Fox.

Getting There

From Charleston, drive north on US-17 approximately 27 miles to the Steed Creek Road intersection. The Swamp Fox trailhead and parking are on the left, 0.25 miles past Steed Creek Road.
