About This Trail

A demanding 10.6-mile alpine loop traversing three peaks – Peak of the Ridges, The Traveler (3,541 ft), and North Traveler – with 3,700 feet of elevation gain rivaling a Katahdin ascent. The volcanic rhyolite ridgelines glow orange-red, and the park recommends hiking counterclockwise to tackle the steepest ascent first from South Branch Pond.
