About This Trail

Diverse Palmetto Trail section winding from Poinsett State Park to the Wateree River through high hills, pine stands, wetlands, and river swamp. Civil War history marks the route where Union forces destroyed 200 Confederate munitions cars, and beaver ponds dot the sandy tread.

Getting There

From Wedgefield, take SC 261 south and turn right onto Headquarters Road at the Manchester State Forest sign. Follow signs to the Palmetto Trail access at Poinsett State Park.
