About This Trail

A short, steep climb of about 500 vertical feet on a section of the Appalachian Trail to one of the Hudson Valley’s finest overlooks. The rocky summit clearing offers a sweeping view of the Bear Mountain Bridge and the surrounding Hudson Highlands. Roadside parking is available near the trailhead off Route 9D.

Getting There

From Cold Spring, drive south on Route 9D for about 8 miles. The Appalachian Trail trailhead kiosk is on the left side of the road, just before the Bear Mountain Bridge. Park near the End 9D sign on the right.
