About This Trail

A gentle creekside trail winding through Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, where 23,000 soldiers fell on September 17, 1862. The Snavely Ford Trail follows Antietam Creek for two miles through farm fields and woodlands steeped in Civil War history.

Getting There

From Hagerstown, take MD-65 south to Sharpsburg. Turn right on Main Street, then left onto Harpers Ferry Road. Before crossing the Antietam Creek bridge, turn right onto Canal Road to access the trail along the creek.
