About This Trail

One of Acadia’s famous iron-rung climbs, ascending 0.6 miles up vertical granite near Sand Beach via steep staircases, iron rungs, and exposed cliff edges. Hiked only counterclockwise, this thrilling route to the Beehive’s 520-foot summit is not for those with a fear of heights.

Getting There

From Bar Harbor, follow the Park Loop Road to the Sand Beach parking area in Acadia National Park. The Beehive Trail begins at the Bowl trailhead across from the Sand Beach entrance. Follow the Bowl Trail 0.2 miles to the Beehive junction.
