An exposed Acadia route ascending Champlain Mountain’s south ridge with open ledges providing broad coastal panoramas of Frenchman Bay, the Porcupine Islands, and the Cranberry Isles. The mostly above-treeline trail offers sustained views throughout the climb to the 1,058-foot summit.

Getting There

From Bar Harbor, enter Acadia National Park and follow the Park Loop Road toward Sand Beach. The Champlain South Ridge Trail begins at the Bowl Trailhead, across from Sand Beach parking.
