About This Trail

A Long Trail climb to the 50-foot fire tower on Belvidere Mountain, commanding views from Jay Peak to Camel’s Hump along the northern Green Mountains. The mountain’s southwest base holds the remnants of the last operating asbestos mine in the U.S., closed in 1993.

Getting There

From Johnson, VT, take Route 108 north to Route 109 east. Continue to Eden, then turn north on Route 118 toward Belvidere. The fire tower trail is accessible from the Long Trail crossing on Route 118, with limited roadside parking at the trailhead.
