About This Trail

A remote Long Trail section crossing the historic mountain pass in Westfield named for Moses Hazen, who built the Bayley Hazen Military Road in 1779. The 3.5-mile route south to Haystack Mountain gains 1,476 feet through quiet northern Vermont forest where encounters with other hikers are rare.

Getting There

From Montgomery Center, take VT-118 north toward Hazen's Notch. The trails are at the High Ponds Farm nature preserve; maps and trailhead directions are available at the Hazen's Notch Welcome Center on Route 58.
