About This Trail
This forest route climbs to the 87.5-foot Fire Tower #9, built in 1929, where nine flights of stairs lead to panoramic views of the Clarion River Valley. The Seneca Trail approach passes through old-growth hemlocks over 145 feet tall and remnants of a 1976 tornado blowdown. Cook Forest’s Forest Cathedral nearby contains some of the tallest old-growth trees in the northeastern United States.
