About This Trail
This 2.7-mile loop beginning at the Cypress Point Picnic Area offers hikers close encounters with Trap Pond’s remarkable bald cypress swamp without needing a kayak. The flat, easily navigated trail passes through the northernmost publicly owned bald cypress stand in the U.S., with reflective pond waters, cypress knees, and diverse wetland wildlife along the route.
