About This Trail

A 5-mile backcountry climb to the summit of Evitts Mountain in Rocky Gap State Park, ascending through hemlock groves, mountain laurel, and rhododendron. The quiet, shaded route offers a gradual uphill with expansive mountain views from the top, beginning at the Lakeside Loop parking lot.

Getting There

From Cumberland, take MD-51 south toward Wiley Ford, then follow local roads east to the Evitts Mountain area. The trail is accessible from the Rocky Gap State Park area off I-68 in Allegany County.
