About This Trail

Often called the Grand Canyon of Maine, this 8-mile trail follows a three-mile slate gorge carved by the West Branch of the Pleasant River. Numerous overlooks reveal waterfalls including Screw Auger Falls, Buttermilk Falls, and Billings Falls plunging into deep pools below. Rugged footing and remote terrain require sturdy boots and an early start.
