About This Trail

A 13.4-mile rail-trail along the former Rutland Railroad route, featuring a spectacular 3-mile causeway extending into Lake Champlain where the water laps at your feet. A seasonal bike ferry crosses a 200-foot gap to South Hero Island, completing one of New England’s most iconic waterfront trail experiences.

Getting There

From downtown Burlington, take Shelburne Road south to Flynn Avenue. Turn west and follow Flynn Avenue to Oakledge Park at the trail's southern terminus with ample parking.
