About This Trail

A steep 8-mile round-trip via the Fire Warden Trail, the shortest route to Avery Peak at 4,088 feet in the Bigelow Preserve, created in 1976 to protect 10,540 acres from ski resort development. The barren summit ledges offer sweeping views over Flagstaff Lake and the surrounding High Peaks along the Appalachian Trail.
