About This Trail

Rocky ridgetop route ascending to Chimney Top’s massive sandstone formations, with sweeping views of endless mountain ridgelines in the Monongahela National Forest. Called the best trail in West Virginia by Outside magazine, the 5-mile out-and-back rewards with vistas of North Fork Peak, River Knob, and Castle Rock.

Getting There

From Seneca Rocks, take WV-28 north/WV-55 east for 15.2 miles. Turn right onto Smoke Hole Road (CR 28/11). The small trailhead parking lot is about 0.4 miles ahead on the right.
