About This Trail

A popular 3-mile round-trip from Jordan Pond House to Penobscot Mountain’s 1,194-foot summit, with expansive views over Jordan Pond, the Bubbles, and the Atlantic. The trail climbs steeply over granite steps and slopes through conifer forest, connecting to Sargent Mountain for a longer outing.

Getting There

From Bar Harbor, enter Acadia National Park and follow the Park Loop Road to the Jordan Pond North parking lot, about 3.7 miles south of the Cadillac Mountain Summit Road turnoff. The Penobscot Mountain Trail begins near the Jordan Pond House.
