About This Trail
Traversing high-altitude balds and spruce-fir forest above 5,000 feet at Grayson Highlands State Park, with free-roaming wild ponies grazing in the alpine meadows. Rhododendron blooms paint the trail pink in June, and exposed rock outcroppings offer views toward Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, Virginia’s two highest peaks.
