About This Trail

This 9.3-mile Appalachian Trail loop near Hamburg climbs 1,640 feet to two premier Blue Mountain overlooks with sweeping views of the Lehigh Valley and Schuylkill farmland. The Pinnacle at 1,634 feet is the highest point on the AT’s Blue Mountain ridge in Pennsylvania. Very rocky terrain with steep grades in the first 2.5 miles; allow about 4 hours for the full circuit.

Getting There

From Hamburg, take Route 22 east to Reservoir Road. Follow Reservoir Road to the gated parking area at the end. Walk up the gravel road about half a mile to the Appalachian Trail and Pinnacle trailhead on the right.
