About This Trail

A rugged segment of the 80-mile Standing Stone Trail featuring rock gardens, exposed ridgeline tread, and sustained Appalachian-style climbs through Huntingdon County’s ridge-and-valley terrain. The trail passes near historic Greenwood Furnace, a 19th-century iron-making village preserved as a state park. Expect challenging rocky footing and remote forest stretches connecting the Thousand Steps region to points south.

Getting There

From Huntingdon, take PA-26 north to McAlevys Fort, then turn east on PA-305. Continue 4.7 miles to Greenwood Furnace State Park. The Standing Stone Trail trailhead is across from the park office.
