About This Trail

Crossing a wooden footbridge to a small island in Smith Mountain Lake, this easy trail features interpretive signs describing the park’s flora and fauna. Turtle Island was once a hilltop before the lake formed, and shaded benches offer peaceful waterside resting spots.

Getting There

From Bedford, take US 460 to Route 122 south to Moneta, then Route 608 east to White House. Take Route 626 south for 2 miles to Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
