About This Trail
This 3.8-mile linear crushed-stone trail follows the west bank of the Assawoman Canal, hand-dug in 1891, connecting coastal communities between Ocean View and Bethany Beach. The flat route passes through alternating lush woodlands and grassy meadows within the 3,100-acre Assawoman Wildlife Area, offering excellent birding for waterfowl, bobwhite quail, and migrating songbirds.
