About This Trail

This 3.5-mile open dike-top route traverses the 3,100-acre Assawoman Wildlife Area, managed for migratory waterfowl, white-tailed deer, and bobwhite quail. The elevated levee provides commanding views across impoundments and marsh pools where birders regularly spot herons, egrets, and migrating ducks along the Atlantic Flyway in southern Sussex County.
