About This Trail

Following the Appalachian Trail, this 1.7-mile climb gains 695 feet to Hawk Rock, a large quartzite outcropping overlooking the town of Duncannon, the winding Susquehanna River, and the confluence of the Susquehanna and Juniata Rivers. The view north extends for miles along the river corridor. Located where the AT crosses the Susquehanna, this is one of the most accessible overlooks on Pennsylvania’s 229-mile AT section.
