About This Trail

A 6.8-mile route through Mahoosuc Notch, a one-mile jumble of massive fallen boulders in a deep chasm widely considered the most difficult mile on the entire 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail. Hikers squeeze through crevices, climb over house-sized slabs, and navigate ice that persists into summer in this legendary technical scramble through the Mahoosuc Range.
