About This Trail

This 2.4-mile flat loop circles Turkle Pond within Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, passing through pine and hardwood forest with a viewing platform overlooking the marsh where wading birds and waterfowl congregate. The easy trail connects to the refuge’s 7.5-mile network and offers some of Delaware’s best birding in a globally recognized photography destination.

Getting There

From Milton, take Route 1 south to Route 16 east toward Broadkill Beach. Turn left onto Turkle Pond Road and travel to Prime Hook NWR headquarters. The Turkle Pond Trail begins near the office and visitor center.
