About This Trail

Following Saint Mary’s River through Virginia’s largest wilderness area in the George Washington National Forest, this trail requires multiple creek crossings. Crystal-clear swimming holes and woodland pools lead to the main falls, with a deep plunge pool at the base.

Getting There

From Staunton, take I-81 south to Exit 213A onto US-11 south. Turn left onto Dabney's Road, left onto Cold Springs Road (SSR-608), then right onto St. Mary's Road. Follow to the dead-end parking lot at the trailhead.
